    It is amusing how people respond to the ‘Puppet’ and Not the Puppeteer. When I worked at HBO, we did a shoot with FOZZIE BEAR. Fozzie was in the Director’s Chair - his handler was underneath. When it came time to cue Fozzie to speak, I kept giving my Countdown hand signals to FOZZIE and he would just sit there. As the hand signals were silent, the Muppeteer wasn’t getting the cues to start. You really did relate to these Muppets as actual beings.
