One can only imagine what could have transpired if his speeding entourage hit someone. Someone could easily have been badly injured or worse. A previous governor (Corzine) here in Jersey was caught in a similar infraction on the Garden State Parkway, if I remember correctly;and he had to own up to his mistake. A colleague of mine was badly injured by a rogue airport van while crossing the street in NYC this past Fall. He wasn't jaywalking and somehow ended up under the van. He's still not 100%, but thankfully he wasn't killed. De Blasio's arrogance is showing here; and he definitely needs a new "security" team in addition to better media support.
