They're already lined up around the block at Borders and Barnes & Noble bookstores around the country. CNN says people are storming bookstores in Europe, Down Under and parts of Asia.
It's not the next Harry Potter book. It's The Age of Conversation.
Co-editors Drew McLellan and Gavin Heaton have been busy doing the morning talk shows. I'm told The Today Show had to bump Condoleeza Rice to make room for Drew, and Fox News Channel actually dumped Paris Hilton and Dick Cheney to get a spot with Gavin by satellite.
Well, I may be exaggerating just a little. But Advertising Age this morning has a great review of the book. (for real.) Mediapost's Marketing Daily and Media Daily News have write-ups too.
The bottom line is, you'd better hurry and order your copies before they're out of print. (Actually, Drew says not to worry. They'll just print more if needed.)
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few months (or you neglected to pay your cable, broadband or DSL bill), you've heard about The Age of Conversation -- collaborative of 103 bloggers from 24 states and the District of Columbia in the U.S. and eight other nations on four continents. The book is available now in three formats -- an e-book, softcover and hardcover.
All profits will go to Variety, the international children's charity, to honor the memory of Sandra J. Kerley, our blogging buddy CK's mom, who died unexpectedly on April 1, as this project was getting started.
I had a chance to see the softcover as I've been doing some advance publicity for the book and I know all of us who contributed essays will be very proud. And there's some great writing in it that's sure to stir up some great online conversations.
e-book $9.99 US ($7.99 goes to Variety)
softcover $16.95 ($8.10 goes to charity)
hardcover $29.99 ($8.55 to charity)
