MediaLife.com reports today on the results of the July TV sweeps period, and look who won in the coveted 18-49 demographic group of viewers... Univision.
The Spanish-language network beat out FOX, which took second, followed by NBC, CBS and then ABC. This is the first time Univision won the sweeps in the 18-49 group. It looks like lots of Latinos love those telenovelas.
The big 4 nets will give as their excuse that they're in the midst of summer reruns, but they are also airing first-run reality shows and summer mini-series.
Maybe Univision's win is simply because the other broadcast nets just aren't putting quality programming out there, so the ever-growing Latino population is turning to another choices that we Gringos don't have.
