New edition of Associated Press Stylebook is out
The new edition of the AP Stylebook came out today. It weighs in at nearly 500 pages -- much bigger than the one on my office bookshelf that's from 7 or 8 years ago.
It has an expanded social media chapter with up-to-date terminology and advice on how to use social media tools for reporting. That advice can be helpful to PR people who hope to use social media to reach out to reporters.
It also has a new broadcast chapter that defines broadcast vocabulary and offers best practices in creating radio, television and online video content. Again, this can be helpful for PR folks who want to create or provide digital content for use by the media.
It's still spiral-bound, just like my vintage 2004 copy. It costs $16.75 for member news organizations and college bookstores and $20.95 retail for the rest of us. Stylebook Online prices are $26 for individual subscribers for one year.
