Joe Pulizzi, who writes the Junta42 blog and tracks top marketing and social media blogs in his Junta Top 42, reached out recently to the bloggers on his list, asking what they think the coming year will bring in social media.
I offered my 2 cents. Here's what I wrote:
Prediction: Marketers will continue to experiment with social media in 2009, although they may not get into it as deeply as they might have hoped before the financial meltdown. But tight budgets might work in favor of trying social media, since programs on various platforms, especially blogs, need not be costly to be effective at reaching and engaging customers.
Joe's blog has predictions from about 50 of us, and I'm happy to be in the company of names like Paul Gillin, Ann Handley, David Meerman Scott, Toby Bloomberg, Valeria Maltoni and many more.
Joe opened the post up to comments, and last time I looked there must be another 15 or so predictions from lots of other smart readers.
It's worth a look, for some interesting reading and good ideas. Thanks, Joe, for putting it together. Let's see how our predictions have held up a year from now.
