Here are a couple of blogs I've come across that I think are worth a look.
Sonia Carreno has had, for more than 10 years, a consulting business -- Passage Communications -- working with publishers, agencies and technology platforms
to develop product strategies, competitive landscapes and business
development. She's also worked at media agencies, dealing with both mainstream media and social media.
Sonia, who is in Toronto, started her blog back in November, and she writes knowledgeably about media online and advertising. It's called Passage Communications.
Another interesting blog is called Beat Blogging. Beatblogging.org is a collaboration between 13 news organizations from around the U.S. and NewAssignment.Net. Contributing bloggers -- all journalists -- explore how journalists can use social networks to improve beat reporting. They share their own experiences, successes and frustrations. It's revealing to see what they're saying. It can offer helpful insights for those of us who are in marketing and public relations.
Check both of these blogs out when you have a few moments.

I like that term. Beat blogging. In journalism, there are different kinds of beats and reporters that are assigned to them. If you're assigned a police beat, then it's mostly crime stories for you. If you're assigned a senate beat, then you'll be gathering information from senate hearings and the like. Having a group of journalists form a blog sounds pretty exciting. I expect I'll get to see a good number of variety in news writing here.
